# Register equipment

Link a physical unit to its client and record where it is installed.

## Before you start

- Create the client and equipment type first. Have the serial number and installation details ready.

## 1. Select client and type

Open New Equipment and select the client and type, both required. Search existing units before creating another with the same serial number.

## 2. Identify the unit

Enter the internal code and serial number. Select the brand and then the model. These details should identify the actual unit, not just its equipment type.

## 3. Locate and save

Enter location, floor and building where applicable. Add the installation date and useful notes. Save and check the client and identification on the new record.

## Check the result

The equipment appears in the client inventory and can be included in a work order.

## If something gets in the way

### Is the model missing?

Check the selected brand first. If a value is missing, ask an administrator to review the catalog before choosing an incorrect model.
