# Create an equipment type

Group similar equipment and prepare maintenance settings.

## Before you start

- Check that the type does not already exist. You need access to organization settings.

## 1. Identify the type

Open the new equipment-type form and enter the required name. The form identifies this as the Portuguese name. Add a description that distinguishes this type from similar ones.

## 2. Set maintenance details

Choose an icon and, where applicable, the unit price and tax rate. If using a maintenance interval, enter it in months. List recommended tools, one per line.

## 3. Save and prepare the checklist

Save the type. Then associate the appropriate checklist template in report settings. Creating a type does not automatically create inspection questions.

## Check the result

The type is available when registering equipment.

## If something gets in the way

### Cannot find the type?

Check that you saved in the correct organization and refresh the selector. Avoid creating a second type with the same meaning.
